Dear Editor,

Susan B. Anthony is probably rolling over in her grave. Sit up, stand up.... Calling all ladies with a brain, a voice and a vote. We have come too far to be squelched and set back by the "Good Ole Boys"!!!

How many of the female voters have come to a Mexico Beach Council Meeting?

Seriously, let the records show that less than 1 percent of the total female population physically shows up.  It does not mean that they do not watch (the edited version) on cable TV; if they have access ; but the majority are truly unaware of what is going on in their own backyard (government)  a city measuring less than 1.8 square miles  Some prefer to keep it that way, mind their business and look the other way!  However, ladies do talk (notice I put that politically and politely expressed) versus gossip, oh yes, come on, we are all guilty of that to some degree!  My Mother always told me "If you do not have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"!!

Do you think that the men do not "gossip"?  The so call Sunshine Law is violated in public after every meeting but closed to table talk within …no women invited!  I stand to be corrected ...Unless you are one of their women (Keeping your mouth shut and agreeing or just laugh and nod your head)!

Whatever happened to good manners? Were not the "southern boys" taught to respect their MaMa's, how about their wife's? Or is it that we, women, were taught "not to speak until spoken to"?!

Wake up ladies.  How anyone, male or female, can just sit by and watch the degrading assault of the men (notice, I did not say "gentlemen") against our local women in politics is outrageous to me.  I am not only talking about (case in hand) Tanya Castro, but how about Joanna Bryan over in Gulf County? Shame on all of you.  It is almost embarrassing to admit that I live in this region.

Oh that's right, I "can vote by my feet" right? Move.  How would it be if our forefathers never stood up to the British? As one (loco yoko) suggested, "the door is always open" to leave Mexico Beach!  How about freedom of speech? Here's the catch; if you dare to venture up to the "public podium" to make a rational statement (God forbid you are a woman) you will most definitely be ridiculed by first the Mayor and then, the rest of his pack! Or, totally ignored as though you are the one with the problem.  The general consensus.....is that the mayor and his family can do no wrong!  If you do not believe me look at the voting record. It is a fact, check it out if you dare to care, that Al Cathey has voted against Tanya Castro on countless issues!   Now, how Bryan’s record stand with the opposing boys?

It is my theory that uneducated, domineering men, have forever used offense as their only defense! When challenged by an intelligent individual who can not be intimidated (because they have backbone and make their money elsewhere, tend to raise their voices in anger.   Just watch and pay attention to the mayor’s posturing antics!  In reality, he is the one who is afraid!  And, I believe, he has a lot to be afraid of!

Please be aware that my comments, as I may stand alone; are solely my opinion; but I would really hope and appreciate a "community watch" since I live in Mexico Beach and may have "offended" the Powers That Are!

May we live in love and peace.
