Wewahitchka Elementary School students strengthened their literacy skills last week by participating in the sixth annual “Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!”

Our students contributed 27,090 minutes toward Florida’s Million Minute Marathon on Monday.

On Wednesday students enjoyed Principal Jay Bidwell as he read aloud to each class for “Curl Up and Read”.

Thursday volunteer readers from our local Health Department visited grades 3-5 focusing on the importance of nutrition, hydration and physical activity.  Friday culminated the week’s events with “Read a T-Shirt Day”.

The week was part of Florida’s statewide efforts to encourage reading and promote this year’s theme “Reading Accelerates Success.”  Thank you to all our volunteers for making this a tremendous week of reading and fun!
