John "Bo" Jones, 85, of Wewahitchka, FL, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012, surrounded by his loving family in the Bay Medical CV-ICU. Bo was born and raised in Wewahitchka and retired from the St. Joe paper mill after 45 years, as a maintenance supervisor. He met the love of his life, Myrle Sumner, in 1951, and married her on June 1st, 1952. He was a charter member of the Wewahitchka Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service and served his community for over 40 years. He became a member of the Tupelo Lodge Post 289 in 1951 and became Worshipful Master in 1956. He served in the U.S. army during WWII. He was a long-standing and devoted member to the First Presbyterian Church of Wewahitchka, where he attended service every Sunday morning that he was able.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrle, his sister Peggy Revell, and his children Gerry Jones, wife Sonia, Roger Jones, wife Carol, and Susan Taylor, husband Rex. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stacey Kelly, husband Craig, Jesse Jones, John Grady Jones, Katie Jones, and Breanna Taylor, and his great-grandchildren, Jordan and Troy Kelly.

The funeral service was at 10 a.m. CST, October 10, at the First United Methodist Church. Internment will follow at Jehu Cemetery on Jehu Cemetery Road. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CST, October 9. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Wewahitchka.
