Port St. Joe won its second-straight District 1-1A boys’ soccer title, the third in four years, with a 4-2 win over Franklin County last Friday at Freeport High School.



Port St. Joe, 13-2-1, hosts Tallahassee Maclay, runner-up in District 2-1A, at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday at Sam Cox Field.



Port St. Joe started quickly against Franklin County as junior forward Caleb Odum scored in the seventh minute, set up by an assist from Daniel Jones. It was Odum’s sixth goal of the season.



Seven minutes later midfielder Drew Lacour headed in a corner kick from Justin Hites to make it 2-0.



Just a minute later, Franklin County cut the score to 2-1 before sophomore forward Marcel Duarte scored his 32nd goal of the year in the 32nd minute and Port St. Joe was up 3-1 at halftime.



Lacour converted a penalty kick to put Port St. Joe up 4-1 in the 58th minute, his 11th goal of the year.



Franklin scored again in the final five minutes of regular time, but could not cut the lead further.



Port St. Joe enjoyed a 25-5 margin in shots on the night and senior Tucker Smith started in goal and played the first 75 minutes, allowing a single goal while facing three shots and making two saves.



Smith is 13-2-1 with a Goals Against Average of 1.275. Javarri Beachum played the final five minutes in goal, facing three shots, making two saves and allowing the Seahawks final goal.
