Ramseys Celebrate 50th Anniversary

It was a time for celebration this past Sunday as friends and family gathered at St. Joseph Bay Country Club to help Houston and LaVerne Ramsey celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.  The event was hosted by their children.

Participating in the celebration were the couple's children: Deanna and her husband, Robert Steed, of Tallahassee; Vickie and her husband Larry Wayne Scheffer of Port St. Joe; Houston, Jr. and his wife, Danielle, of Miami. Also present were their grandchildren: Ginger and her husband John Paul Bernal, Shelby, Nickolas, and Julia Scheffer all of Port St. Joe and Madelin and Houston, III of Miami, along with a host of family and lifelong friends.

Houston and the former LaVerne Wester were married on October 20, 1959, at the Church of God in Marianna, Florida with the Rev. James Gilbert officiating. 

They have been local residents their entire married life.  Houston retired as Chief Operator from Arizona Chemical in 2005 after thirty-eight-and-one-half years of service.  LaVerne has been a homemaker throughout their marriage, and has served as a volunteer for many church and community organizations.  Currently she volunteers with the P.S.J.H. Band.
