Mexico Beach Elections Set
With three seats in play the slate for the upcoming Mexico Beach municipal elections was finalized with the close of candidate qualifying last Friday.
Election Day is April 20. Voter registration ends on March 22 and early voting will take place from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. CT April 12-16.
Two of the three seats will be contested.
Lanny Howell, who was appointed to serve on an interim basis in the Group 2 seat vacated when Curtis Dale resigned early this year due to family health issues, is unopposed and will become a standing member of the council as of April 20.
He will serve the remaining one year on Dale’s term before being up for re-election next year.
The two incumbents up for re-election both drew challengers.
Gary Woodham will face off against John William Hamilton, III to keep his Group 4 seat and Robert Ginsburg will be challenged by Robert Pollock for the Group 5 seat.
Each council member serves a two-year term.
