Thank You
Dear Editor:
My husband (Jason Posey) and I were married in Cape San Blas on May 8, 2010. We would like to share our experience with those of the area and all who may be interested in marrying in the area. We also want to personally thank everyone who was involved in making our “Fairy Tale” wedding come true.
We should share a little about our wedding first. We decided we wanted a small wedding with our families and a couple of friends. We wanted a “weekend of wedding bliss.” Sure, we could have stayed home in Georgia, spent about the same amount of money, and it would have been over within a few, very rushed hours, with little time to spend with our families, who didn’t know one another. Due to wanting a “Destination Wedding” and how important it was for us to have our families present we wanted to make things easier, more enjoyable, and provide the opportunity for our families to get to know one another we wanted to provide all the accommodations. We rented three properties to house our 30 guests. We wanted simplicity with elegance.
We started by “kidnapping” our Maid of Honor, took a road trip to Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe, and we ended up on the Cape! We made appointments in advance with the individuals listed below and a few others. We met with the individuals in their homes, businesses, and/or at local venues where we were able to develop relations with those that we chose to take care of us and “our day.” All of those involved in our wedding maintained contact with us via phone and email up to the big day. September to May was the time frame we used to make our dreams come true.
Our first thank you goes out to Gulf Coast Vacation Rentals, who we rented “Blue Heaven” and “Barrier Dunes 165” from. Their customer service was wonderful. They referred us to Cape San Blas Realty to rent an additional property from “All Smiles”; due to the close proximity, which was two doors down so that we could keep everyone close together. We decided to rent “Barrier Dunes 165” just a few months before the wedding for some extra space. We had our wedding at “Blue Heaven” on the beach and our rehearsal and reception on the decking area under “Blue Heaven.” Thank you to all of the associates at Gulf Coast Vacation Rentals and Cape San Blas Realty.
Our next thank you goes out to White Sand Events and Bay Florist. Lynn Carr and Lezle Jacobs did an amazing job working with us and our requests. The décor was beautiful. We were married under a bamboo arbor decorated with sheer fabric and ribbon. Jason and I found a couple of styles of ribbon at home we wanted to use in our décor. Lezle did an incredible job incorporating our ribbon in all the details from using it on the arbor to decorating the columns under the house (also decorated with sheer covers), to the bouquets. We wanted very few flowers as we did not want to lose the main elements of our wedding – the ocean and beach. They were accommodating in allowing us to provide a vase of our own for the flowers (one that paid tribute to our lost loved ones) which served as our main arrangement in addition to our bouquets. They were accommodating in allowing us to use our hand/homemade center pieces. We looked in to several wedding coordinators, so many want to offer package deals or/or ala carte. White Sand Events worked with us allowing us to incorporate the details that allowed us to personalize our event and were not offended by us wanting to provide particular décor for our day. They also provide itemized bills so that you may see exactly what you are paying for which is nice as weddings do get expensive and such details are not always included. Lynn, Lezle, and associates thank you so much for all of your hard work, for working with us to incorporate all of our “stuff”, and your willingness to make our wedding perfect.
Our next thank you goes out to Silver Quest Studios and Vic Ramos. Vic and a co-associate took amazing photographs. Their creativity and attention to detail was magnificent. Vic is very personable and strives to know his clients prior to their event. This aspect of his professionalism is very important as some events such as weddings are very intimate and emotional. Vic has a way of making those of us who don’t care to have our picture taken very comfortable with the process. Our photos were posted on Silver Quest’s website where our family and friends may view them. Privacy is respected as proofs are password protected. We can’t wait to see our finished, leather bound, wedding book. Vic and Elliot thank you so much!
Our next thank you goes out to Rhonda Tull. Rhonda provided our rehearsal petite four dessert and our cakes. Her attention to detail is amazing. We ordered petite fours for our rehearsal. They were covered in poured fondant and then decorated with flamingos, flip-flops, and flowers. Jason’s cake was a “Scrabble” cake. The tiles looked like those on an actual scrabble board with words of weddings, the beach, and love. She even included our names. My cake was a 3 tier cake of strawberry, key lime, and chocolate. It was decorated with white chocolate shells, coral, and pearls. The cakes tasted amazing. The best wedding cake I have ever tasted! Upon meeting Rhonda her presentation not to mention taste won us over immediately. Rhonda, thank you for beautiful, delectable petite fours and cakes.
Our next thank you goes out to Kim Lewis. Kim was referred to us by White Sand Events. Kim was our God Send. She was available to do whatever we needed her to. She prepped our food, baked dishes that needed to be baked, made punches, set up everything, cleaned up, and replenished prior to her leaving. She is detail oriented and a perfectionist; which was great being that my husband and I are too. Kim made life easy on the family and took away several worries so that everyone could enjoy themselves without having to work throughout the event. Kim thank you for all of your hard work in being our life saver!
Our next thank you goes out to Jack “Marrying” Mullin. Jack was our wedding officiant. He was accommodating in including some extra ceremony details at our request. We provided a microphone and speaker so that everyone could hear our vow exchange. It would have been a long way to drive to not hear us exchange our vows. Jack preformed a sand ceremony in lieu of a unity candle ceremony. At our request he performed a blessing stone ceremony; which includes the bride, groom, wedding party, and guests. He also worked with us in presenting flowers to our mother’s and Jason’s grandmother as it was Mother’s Day weekend. Jack thank you for working with us to personalize our ceremony.
We would also like to thank MainStay Suites for working with us and 3 of our additional guests. We had guests with reservations. Jason and I arrived a day earlier than anticipated. Main Stay gave us a wedding discount being that we had other guests staying with them. They have events throughout the week for their guests. So fun is a nice amenity they offer for free! Thank you for helping to take care of us prior to our wedding.
We also would like to thank the folks at the Port St. Joe court house, the Wal-mart in Callaway, Piggly Wiggly, Bluewater Outriggers, Scallop Cove BP (you have the best chicken sandwich), Cone Heads, The Trading Post, the Port St. Joe post office, Beachcombers II, Beach Buggies, Triple Tails Seafood Market, and everyone else who may have assisted in our “Weekend of Wedding Bliss.” We appreciate everyone’s incredible customer service.
