Keeping up the pace

Dear Editor:

As unemployment continues to rise across the nation our county commissioners are keeping up and doing their part to be assured Gulf County is no exception, laying numerous employees off with not so much as a notice.

United we can stand as a country, however, divided into districts leaves everyone vulnerable. All the district-ized pet projects have led Gulf County on an uncharted course, while one commissioner will say “I did this for my district” and another will say “And I did this for mine.”

However, it seems consolidated efforts have had little to do with any true benefits to the county as a whole complete entity.

I just want to pass on some powerful words to those feeling the crunch – “A bend in the road is not the end of the road, unless you fail to make the turn.”
