Gulf County woman held on aggravated battery charges

In the early morning hours of Monday, Gulf County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by a neighbor of a disturbance next door, including a gun shot.

When a deputy arrived he found the suspect Esther Wilson, 52, standing over the victim, who had an apparent gun shot to the head. Wilson was taken into custody and the victim transported to Bay Medical. 

Wilson stated that they were involved in an argument, she picked up a pistol, and as they struggled over the gun, it went off. The victim was struck in the mouth with a single gun shot, and according to the emergency room doctor is expected to make a full recovery.  Wilson and the victim have lived together for several years.

Wilson was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
