Gumbo Festival a Tasty Treat
With over-the-top decorations and Bourbon Street spirit, Mexico Beach was transformed into all things Gumbo this past Saturday. The 2010 Mexico Beach Gumbo Cook-Off brought out hundreds of people ready to sample all the Gumbo and Brunswick stew for the offering. The sunshine helped with the chill in the air, Elvis and the Timeless Band played while everyone had a great time sampling different gumbos. The Special Events for Mexico Beach, Inc. was able to raise monies that will go towards the 4th of July fireworks. This annual event is always a crowd pleaser and this year a Brunswick stew category that held its own was added to the menu. With a variety of gumbos and stews to pick from, no one should have left hungry. If you missed this year, make sure to mark your calendar for 2011 because this is one event you want to attend.
