The Port St. Joe Police Department is commited to promoting safety for all citizens. The State of Florida, Gulf County and the City of Port St. Joe provide the roadway as a benefit to the public at large. Accordingly, these agencies seek to safeguard all drivers through the use of a non-intrusive checkpoint to detect and remove impaired drivers from the road.
The use of the Roadside Safety Checkpoint, public education and enforcement are combined to achieve and enhance the reduction in deaths and injuries caused by impaired vehicle operators.
