On Wednesday evening, Sept. 30, members of St. James Episcopal Church of Port St. Joe welcomed their new Rector and leader, the Rev. Thomas P. Dwyer and his wife Lynn. The service of Installation was attended by many church members and guest from Bay and Gulf counties. The Rt. Rev. Philip Duncan, Bishop of The Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, came from Pensacola to give his Blessing to the ministry of Fr. Tommy. Assisting the Bishop in the installation service were clergy from the area. Rev. Jerry Huft from Wewahitchka, Rev. John Wave of Panama City, Rev. Martha Harris of Apalachicola, Rev. Julia Phillips of Panama City participated. Members of the congregation also participated and presented Father Dwyer with liturgical gifts to be used in his ministry to the people of St. James and the surrounding community. Guest preacher for the occasion was Rev. Mark Jones of Albany, GA and a seminary classmate of Fr. Tommy’s. As an active member of our local Rotary Club, members of the Port St. Joe Rotary Club were also on hand to support his ministry to our community.

The joyous service was followed by a reception in the parish hall planned by the hospitality hostesses, Alice Thomas and Jo Munn. Father Tommy and Lynn want to thank the church and community for the warm welcome shown to them and their new ministry in Port St. Joe.
