A Special Thank You to Sacred Heart

I would like to share with your readers my recent experience during a visit and stay to the new Sacred Heart on the Gulf hospital.

EMS rushed me to the hospital emergency room for chest pains and trouble breathing. Upon my arrival I was instantly met by a dynamic team of caregivers. By caregivers I mean the registration staff, the nurses, the respiratory and lab techs as well as the doctor that was on call. These wonderful individuals immediately began working with me to relieve not only my pain but any fears I had as well. Each and every one of them were so kind, patient and compassionate with my care and needs.

After several hours and tests later in the ER my doctor made the decision to admit me to the hospital. At this time I was moved from the ER to the med/surgical floor. I have been admitted in several hospitals in the past and I can honestly say without a doubt that this was the most wonderful stay I have ever had in my life. You may find this hard to believe as no one ever considers any hospital stay to be wonderful, but the care and treatment that I received during my stay was above and beyond any I have received in the past. Words really can not begin to explain the appreciation and gratitude I have in my heart to express towards the facility as well as the staff at Sacred Heart on the Gulf.

The meals were wonderful and the dietary staff was just incredible with their concerns and considerations for my dietary requirements as well as the dietary needs of the family members that stayed with me during my illness. Every staff member that I encountered during my stay was absolutely the friendliest and genuinely the most caring I have ever had take care of me.

Those people are NOT just there to collect a paycheck; they really care. This has not always been the case at previous medical facilities I have been to. The respiratory staff was just awesome; it was actually hard at times to take breathing treatments due to the fact that they had me laughing so much that it is hard to laugh under a breathing treatment mask.

Every one that visited my room kept me informed of what was going on and several joked with me like they had known me their whole life. Even during the times I was really in pain, there was always someone who would put a smile on my face.

I really wanted to share this experience with everyone in our community and encourage ALL to support this blessing that has been given not only to Port St. Joe, but to the surrounding counties as well. A very special thank you to all the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital for all you did for me during my recent stay there.
