Thank You for your Efforts

Dear Editor:

Please accept our most sincere and grateful thanks for all the help given to us by your newspaper and Star reporter, Despina Williams. When I first walked into The Star office, several months ago, my daughter and I were facing a very serious and frustrating situation which was beyond our control.  I came into The Star office, feeling desperate, to ask if 'The Star' would please help me to publicize our plight hoping that someone somewhere might do something to help us.

Despina was very patient with my long explanation of our situation and took notes as we chatted. I left her with a mountain of paperwork from all the research I had been doing. 'The Star' published the story and many people remarked at the good coverage. It was a very well balanced report covering the facts of our personal story and the background information about the problem we are up against.

You also covered the story in an editorial and several other newspapers and ABC News later used the reports from The Star in their own coverage.

Despina continued to research and seek out more information. She gained information for us that we could not acquire for ourselves. She not only covered the story she helped in so many other ways.

The help and support we received was far above and beyond anything that a member of the public coming into your office for help could have expected!

Despina replied to my endless email messages, often in her own time at weekends and evenings. She is a very special young lady and I feel privileged to have met her!

The Star is a local voice for people like us and Ms. Despina Williams is our hero!

I am very proud to be able to say that my daughter is, at last, a United States Citizen and, after receiving an incorrect certificate initially, now has the certificate to prove it!!
