Meeting of Volunteers for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners for Community
Yes, folks it’s that time again to call a gathering of our wonderful volunteers. A meeting will be held on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., at the Port St. Joe Senior Citizens Center (next to Library in Court house complex). A review of the 2008 holiday community dinners will be given.
A turkey and ham demolition is being planned on Nov. 25 to cut up all the meat. We will also be assembling boxes that will be used for delivery, setting up tables finishing the preparation of food, and cutting the deserts.
Our volunteers need sweet potatoes donated, 45 turkeys, and four hams. Anyone who is interested in helping is asked to call the Gulf County Community Development Corporation/People Helping People, which is co-sponsoring this program, at 229-5262.
It is the beginning of the Christmas Program for the Young and Elderly. The Gulf County senior Citizens is the other co-sponsor who will be working closely with the CDC/PHP organization to make this year really a special one for the many hundreds of people in need in our county. Please contact Jerry Stokoe the Program Manager for any information.
The volunteers plan to increase the number of meals served throughout Gulf County. A special thanks to Duren’s Piggly Wiggly which has been such a strong supporter of this program. The dinner would not be as well planned without the contributions of Mr. George Duren and the staff that helps put it all together.
HOPE TO SEE MANY VOLUNTEERS THERE
