Cloe Chalker, all 6 years of her, has shown an early passion for sea turtles.

The local girl set up a lemonade stand in Indian Pass last spring to raise awareness about sea turtles and money to adopt a sea turtle nest.

She has become a volunteer, certainly among the youngest, at the Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center located in Port St. Joe’s George Core Park.

Cloe also applied for funding through a Walt Disney youth initiative and, due to her ongoing work bringing awareness and funds for local sea turtles, was selected as one of 340 recipients of a Disney Summer of Service grant.

The $500 grant will be used by the Sea Turtle Center to purchase a flat-screen television for the Center to show educational videos.

The folks at the Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center congratulate Cloe and sincerely thank here for her hard work to help preserve our sea turtles.

The grant is part of Disney’s collaboration with YSA (Youth Services America): Youth Changing the World through Disney’s Be Inspired Citizenship program.
