Members of Boy Scout Troop 347 in Port St. Joe are working hard towards going to the Boy Scouts National Jamboree in 2017 at the New National Scout Camp in Beckley WV. This is a 17-day adventure and a once in a lifetime event for some of this troop. This will be the first time in 60 years a troop will attend and represent Port St. Joe, so this is a history making event, as it was when the famous John T. Simpson brought the last troop to this exact event.

With this being said the Scouts have a huge undertaking because prices go up on everything and this is no different. The price to send these young men is $20,000. These young men have been working hard and have earned through various fundraisers about half of what they need. What the scouts are looking for at this time are some folks that would like to help sponsor the troop in this adventure. In return the Scouts will wear shirts with all of the sponsors on it at the National Jamboree and will also have a banner with the same on it and pictures taken with it at the Jamboree and Washington DC.

The levels of sponsorship are Platinum at $1,000, Gold at $500, Silver at $250 and Bronze at $100. All sponsorships, large and small, are greatly appreciated and will help get these kids to a memory of a lifetime. We would also like to take this time to thank those who have stepped up to the plate with some help: Gulf Coast Electric Co-Op of Wewahitchka, Buy Rite Drugs of Wewahitchka and Port St. Joe.

More names will be announced in an upcoming article. All sponsorships are tax deductible and tax information will be furnished upon request. If you have any questions please feel free to call Scoutmaster Bill Van Der Tulip at 247-9091 to get mailing information. Again, thank you on behalf of the boys.
