The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club kicked off the New Year with excitement at their monthly meeting on Jan. 10.

Prior to the meeting, an Art & Crafts Show was held, and five different projects were announced as First-Place Winners. The three members who submitted these winning projects will enter the District 2 GFWC competition in Marianna on Feb. 11, where they will be judged.

The winners of District will go on to compete in the State competition.

Members with their First Place winning entries pictured are Jo Grogan, with entry of Floral and Photography-Feature, Ann Nunnery, Photography-Natural History, and Nancy Balmer, Crochet and Cross Stitch-stamped. Congratulations and Good Luck to these ladies as they travel to District Meeting in February.

This fun event is one of many service and community projects the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club is proud to participate in. The Woman's Club will have a "fun" fundraiser Monday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m. CT. We are having a Bunco Tournament at the Fish House Restaurant in Mexico Beach. Entry fee of $30 includes dinner and bunco. The prize is $100. We will also have a silent auction. This project is focused on replacing our American and Military branch flags that are getting worn. Everyone is welcome! We encourage you to come out and participate, even if you don't know how to play Bunco. A lot of us will be first time players. If unable to participate, we are accepting donations towards our flag project.

The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club is also very excited to be partnering in the "Groovy Kind Of Love" Dinner and Dance fundraiser in February, benefiting the libraries in Wewahitchka and Port St. Joe. Be on the lookout for ads and flyers for this fun event which will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Centennial Building in Port St. Joe.

If you would like to learn more about all the exciting programs and projects coming up this year, join us at our regular monthly meeting, the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. CT at the Glad Tidings Church Fellowship Hall in Wewahitchka.
