With the start of the postseason looming next week, the Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls’ basketball team is rounding into form.

With the start of the postseason looming next week, the Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls’ basketball team is rounding into form.

The Lady Tiger Sharks stretched a late-season winning streak to six, with no game closer than 29 points, before falling Monday at Fort Walton Beach.

Port St. Joe is 17-5 overall, 6-1 in District 4-1A with the district tournament beginning Tuesday.

Port St. Joe will host Blountstown tonight for Senior Night and finish the regular season off 6 p.m. ET Saturday at home against Tallahassee Lincoln.

Port St. Joe will host Wewahitchka 6 p.m. ET Tuesday in the opening round of the district tournament.

The winner will play the winner of Sneads vs. Vernon at 7 p.m. ET during Thursday’s semifinals at Blountstown.

The championship game will be 8 p.m. ET Saturday at Blountstown High School.

Port St. Joe 48, Graceville 16

The Lady Tiger Sharks finished the regular-season district schedule with an easy win over visiting Graceville last Friday.

Port St. Joe jumped out 16-2 in the first quarter and after a 24-2 second period it was 40-4 at intermission.

Teiyahana Hutchinston led Port St. Joe with 16 points and added five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Brooklyn Wuinn chipped in 10 points, nine rebounds, six assists and nine steals.

Flossy Pittman had eight points, eight rebounds and two steals, Halie Jasinski six points, 10 rebounds and two blocked-shots and Port St. Joe got two points apiece from Javia Patterson, Shaadovia Hudgins, Mimi Larry and Aliyah Johnson.

Port St. Joe 47, Arnold 13

The Lady Tiger Sharks traveled to Panama City Beach last Saturday and make quick work of Class 4A Arnold.

Both teams started slow in a first quarter that ended with Port St. Joe up 8-1, but a 20-4 second quarter pushed the lead to 28-5 at intermission and it was 40-7 after three quarters.

Hutchinson led the way with 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals while Jasinski added a double-double, 17 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists and a blocked-shot.

Quinn chipped in six points, eight rebounds, six assists, nine steals and two blocks, Patterson had two points, five rebounds and two steals and Larry scored four points.

Fort Walton Beach 55, Port St. Joe 41

The Lady Tiger Sharks scored the first three points of the game, but it was an uphill slog from there in the final road game of the regular season.

After the opening period finished with Fort Walton Beach holding a 16-10, Port St. Joe went cold and was down 28-14 at halftime.

Port St. Joe closed to within seven in the third quarter but could draw no closer.

Hutchinson led Port St. Joe with 23 points, nine rebounds and seven steals.

Quinn added nine points and three rebounds, Patterson five points and seven rebounds and Jasinski chipped in four points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
