The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club's latest fund raiser quickly became a great "fun-raiser." As 2017 plans were discussed for ways to fund the Woman's Club's many civic projects, the fund raising committee proposed a Bunco Tournament, with funds raised from this fun event going toward maintenance of the V of Flags and Avenue of Flags located in Wewahitchka. The V of Flags displays the American flag, the State of Florida flag, and five flags representing the five branches of the United States military, and the Avenue of Flags displays many American flags along State Highway 71 and State Highway 22 on patriotic holidays.

The club invited the public to meet Monday evening, Jan. 23, at the Fish House Restaurant in Mexico Beach for dinner and bunco games. The Woman's Club wants to send out a special thank you to Eric Spilde, owner of the Fish House. At the end of the night, he generously donated everything we had paid for meals back to the club. With that donation, along with the fees to play, and proceeds from a silent auction, the Woman's Club will be able to improve and maintain our Flag Project. There was a tie for the status of Bunco Queen, and reigning champions Patty Fisher and Tunnie Miller, as well as all club members, are looking forward to another Bunco Tournament in the future.

The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club is involved in many civic projects throughout the year, with a constant desire to aid those in need, and improve our community. One hundred percent of the profit of our fund raisers goes to fund the many services and community projects the Wewahitchka Woman's Club is proud to sponsor, including Coats for Kids Project for elementary students in Wewa and Port St. Joe, Flag Program and Military Memorial in Wewa, Blue Ribbon Project in support of the Gulf County Sheriff's and Port St. Joe Police Departments, Teacher Appreciation Projects and School Supply Projects, HOBY sponsorship, School and Public Library donations, Domestic Violence donations, and our Annual Scholarships for students.

The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club is also very excited to be partnering in the "Groovy Kind Of Love" Dinner and Dance fundraiser, benefiting the libraries in Wewahitchka and Port St. Joe. Be on the lookout for ads and flyers for this fun event which will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Centennial Building in Port St. Joe.

If you would like to learn more about all of the exciting programs and projects coming up this year, join us at our regular monthly meeting, the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. CT at the Glad Tidings Church Fellowship Hall in Wewahitchka.
