PANAMA CITY — With the 13th Annual All-Star Basketball Classic set for April 8 at the Billy Harrison Field House at Gulf Coast State College, the full roster for the East girls team has been set.
The event matches the top seniors from The News Herald’s eight-county readership area comprising the East boys and girls teams against the best seniors from The Daily News in Fort Walton Beach’s Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties area.
On April 8, the girls game begins at 11 a.m. followed by the boys game at 1 p.m. In a break from previous years, only coaches with a state pass will be admitted to the games for free. All other admissions will be $5 for adults and $2 for students.
Mosley’s Jasmine Patterson, Bozeman’s Brianna Turner, Bay’s Lucinda Willis, and Poplar Springs’ Railey Tate comprised the first four picks for the team, which will be led by Mosley coach Jon Mason, who will be assisted by his Dolphins’ coaching staff.
Filling out the squad will be Bay’s Kiara Patillo, Rutherford’s Takisha McElroy, Port St. Joe’s Halie Jasinski, Poplar Springs’ Brittney Jones, Mosley’s Rebecca Cole, and Holmes County stars Jacklyn Miles and Faithful Williams.
At 6-1, Jasinski gives the East All-Stars another big interior presence after a season in which she averaged 8.3 points, nine rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest for the Tiger Sharks.
The final roster for the East boys team will be announced Sunday.
