The next North Port St. Joe Project Area Coalition (NPSJ-PAC) meeting will be held 11 a.m. ET Saturday, April 22 at Philidelphia Primitive Baptist Church, located at 261 Avenue D in Port St. Joe.

Attorney Shannon Stallings of Apalachicola will be provided a special presentation regarding the restoration of voting rights for individuals in the community.

Stallings, primarily a criminal defensive attorney, participated in the Innocence Project in New York during law school and was a public defense attorney and union representative in Brooklyn.

Stallings has spent the past 15 years learning about the injustices of the mass incarceration system and its depressive impact on urban and rural communities. One of those is the removal of voting rights – “so terribly antithetical to the principles of our democracy.”
