The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls took first and the boys fourth during last Friday’s District 1-2A track and field meet at Bozeman High School.

The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls took first and the boys fourth during last Friday’s District 1-2A track and field meet at Bozeman High School.

Among the highlights for Port St. Joe was a sweep of the top four in the girls’ pole vault, Lilly Wockenfuss’ win in the triple jump, Celeste Chiles double in the shot put and discuss, Jade Cothran’s win in the 300 meters and sophomore Peyton Edwards win in the boys’ 100 meters.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to Tuesday’s Region 1-1A meet in Jacksonville.

Girls

Hayden Lee led the sweep in the pole vault, followed by Haley Corzine, who also finished fourth in the high jump, Christian Bouington and Wockenfuss.

Chiles won both the shot put and discuss in other field events.

On the track, distance runners produced big points for the Lady Tiger Sharks, with Genevieve Rocha finishing second behind Cothran in the 300 meters.

Zoe Gerlach took third in the 1,600 meters and Emily Lacour was second at 3,200 meters.

The 4 by 400 team of Aleah Johnson, Gerlach, Rocha and Autumn Kotelman finished fourth to advance to region and the 4 by 800 team of Lacour, Gerlach, Rocha and Kotelman finished second.

Boys

Edwards, limited to a single event due to injury, paced the boys, with Ashton Howell taking third in the 800 meters.

Devin Crews (third) and Zach McFarland (fourth) both qualified for region in the 1,600.

The team of Crews, Howell, Kanon Martin and Ricky Forbes finished third in the 4 by 400 relay and Crews, Howell, Martin and McFarland finished second in the 4 by 800 relay.

Gavrin Hyche won the pole vault with Dyson Kent, who finished fourth in the high jump, in second.
