Seven county high school athletes competed in last Friday’s Class 1A Track and Field Championship in Bradenton.
Dyson Kent from Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School, who took second in Region 1-1A, was the highest finisher among county competitors, earning fourth in the pole vault.
Lilly Wockenfuss, just a seventh-grader at Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School, placed ninth in the pole vault while Celeste Chiles, also from Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School, earned seventh in the shot put.
Chiles did not reach the finals in the discus and Port St. Joe’s Hayden Lee failed to reach the finals in the pole vault.
Blake Harrison was in the top 10 in the shot put and the other county boy to qualify, Port St. Joe’s Payton Edwards, just a sophomore, failed to reach the final in the 100 meters.
Sha Mario Cole from Wewahitchka finished last in the 800 meters after taking fourth at regions.
