George Thompson, of Port St. Joe, was honored for outstanding achievements at Gulf Coast State College 57th Annual Honors Convocation on April 28 in the Amelia Center Theatre. George was named Outstanding Cyber-Security Student of the Year, honored by Who's Who, installed on Corps Tigris-GCSC Cyber-Security Team, and recognized for his 4.0 GPA. Guy Garrett, a cyber-security expert and Assistant Professor at GCSC spoke in a reception earlier that evening sharing that George is the first non-traditional student to receive the honor and his work ethic, attention to detail, and aptitude made his selection an easy decision. George received his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University in 1997 and returned to college in 2014, enrolling as a triple major in Gulf Coast’s Network Administration, Network Infrastructure, and Cyber-Security programs.
