1950- The state’s first shellfish laboratory is established in Apalachicola.

1966- The St. Joe Paper Company issues 50 scholarships to Gulf County students totaling $117,250.

1972- To celebrate the Tiger Sharks state titles in football and basketball, Port St. Joe civic organizations host a chicken barbeque called “Championship Day” and feed 3000 guests.

1987- Jeb Bush, then the head of Florida’s Department of Community Affairs, is given a tour of Port St. Joe’s commercial fishing operations by Gene Raffield.

1992- Salinas park is opened.
