The city of Port St. Joe’s new, but familiar, commissioners for 2017 took the oath of office during a special meeting Tuesday.

Mayor Bo Patterson was re-elected to another two-year term, his second as mayor, without opposition.

During last month’s election, Commissioners William Thursbay and David Ashbrook were returned to office by voters.

In business after the ceremonies:

*Commissioners approved a local preference on bidding which allows a Gulf County bidder, if not the low bidder, to be awarded the project bid provided they are willing to meet the low bid.

*Commissioners also awarded a $29,000-plus contract for repairs to the pier running out to the gazebo at Frank Pate Park. The money will come from boat ramp fees and BP fine dollars.

*Commissioners held a first reading of an ordinance that would require off-street parking for all developments within the city limits.

* Commissioners will not meet next week; the next regular bi-monthly meeting will be held 6 p.m. ET Thursday, July 6, moved from Tuesday to the Fourth of July.
