Tony Morrell, a staking engineer in Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative’s engineering department, recently completed the Comprehensive Staking Technician Certification Program.

The program consists of 12 courses: basic surveying; basic sectionalizing and line equipment; easement acquisition; obtaining permits; line inspection; overhead structure design; staking sheets; joint use staking; National Electric Safety Code; underground line design and subdivision layout; construction contracts; and sizing transformers and conductors.

Approximately 75 employees serve more than 20,000 meters and 2,600 miles of line in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Jackson, Walton and Washington counties and in the municipalities of Wewahitchka, Ebro, Lynn Haven, White City, Fountain and Southport.
