Congratulations to Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School Class of 2017 graduate Mekena Taunton for placing 5th at the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Competition in Orlando. Mekena placed first in the state competition in April to secure a spot in the International competition which included students from all 50 states, District of Columbia, Canada, Mexico, American Samoa, and Puerto Rico.

Mekena competed in the category Speaking Skills. This was her second appearance at the ILC, having competed last year as well.

She is the daughter of Josh and Jennifer Taunton of Wewahitchka. Mekena plans to pursue a career in Nursing.
