1. Enjoy The Currys in concert. The Currys, a family affair nurtured by Gulf County roots, will take the stage at the historic Port Theatre 7 p.m. ET tonight. The concert continues the growth of the monthly series at the Port Theatre in downtown Port St. Joe. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. ET, with general admission entry at 6:45 p.m. ET. General admission tickets are $10 and available at the door or purchased at the Port Inn, Haughty Heron, Lookout Lounge, Krazy Fish and Sunset Coastal Grill. VIP tickets are available at the same locations for $30. VIP tickets provide entry to a meet-and-greet with The Currys and one drink ticket as well as entrance at 6 p.m. ET.

 

 

 

2. Learn about the value of seagrass beds. The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve will offer a Seagrass Exploration Class Friday. The class will be 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. ET and will be held at the St. Joseph Bay Buffer Preserve, 3915 State Road 30A in Port St. Joe.

Before spending time in the classroom, participants will immerse themselves in the vibrant seagrass ecosystem with a guided snorkeling tour of the crystal-clear seagrass beds in St. Joseph Bay. Following, participants will hear a discussion led by experienced marine biology experts exploring seagrass conservation, and get involved with hands-on activities and group investigations. This adult-level class covers the basics of life in a seagrass bed, as well as the intricate ties between organisms and important conservation. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own snorkel gear, snack, water bottle and change of clothes. Be prepared to get wet.

3. Receive a free health screening. Sacred Heart Mission in Motion mobile health clinic will offer free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, anemia and cholesterol, at two locations July 24-25. The screenings will be held 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. CT Monday, July 24 at First Baptist Church of Wewahitchka and 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. ET Tuesday, July 25, at Long Avenue Baptist Church in Port St. Joe. 4. Climb the Cape San Blas Lighthouse in Port St. Joe’s George Core Park. The St. Joseph Historical Society has expanded the lighthouse hours for the summer. The lighthouse is open 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. ET Wednesday through Saturday. For adults 13 and over, the cost to climb is $5 and for children under 12, but at least 44-inches tall, the cost for the climb is $3. Please, no flip-flops – climbers need sturdy shoes. Also, keep in mind, the Lighthouse Gift Shop, located inside the Sleeping Beauty keepers’ quarters is open during the same hours.
