Mr. Jake Gerald Hysmith, age 82, of Wewahitchka, FL, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Monday, July 24, 2017. Jake was born on September 16, 1934 in Chipley, FL to James Andrew Hysmith and Siller Sylvinie (Babb) Hysmith Collins and had lived in Gulf County most of his life. He was a retired heavy equipment operator doing land clearing. He was of the Christian Faith. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew Hysmith and Siller Sylvinie (Babb) Hysmith; son, Oscar Hysmith; brothers, Jackie Lee Collins and Leroy Collins; sisters, Eva Lolley, Ruby Nell Meredith and Vera Mae Armstrong. Survivors include, wife, Ruth Ann (Weeks) Hysmith of Wewahitchka, FL; four sons, James Hysmith and wife, Tamie; Billy Hysmith and wife, Faye; Andy Hysmith; Danny Ray Hysmith and wife, Jeannie all of Wewahitchka, FL; two daughters, Sylvinie Ake and husband, Lyle, Kayla Hysmith all of Wewahitchka, FL; daughter-in-law, Connie Hysmith of Wewahitchka, FL; two brothers, Leon Collins and wife, Vickie of Tennessee and Troy Collins and wife, Rachel of Crawfordville, FL; six sisters, Martha O’Bryan of Tallahassee, FL; Sadie Braswell and husband Leon of Seattle, WA; Rose Carter and husband, Jim of Tennessee; Cathy Anderson and husband, Don of Quincy, FL; Ann Roper and husband, James of Bonifay, FL and Jessie Norcen and husband, Dave of Tallahassee, FL; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 4 p.m. (CST) at the Honeyville Community Center in Honeyville with Reverend David Taunton and Reverend Lee Reichard officiating. Interment will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery in Wewahitchka, FL. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 5 p.m. (CST) until 7 p.m. (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
