Freddie Jerald Whitfield, 74, of Wewahitchka, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2017. He was born in Wewahitchka, Florida on September 12, 1942 to James Herbert and Cora Lee (Weeks) Whitfield.

Freddie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He considered his family to be his greatest accomplishment. He was a successful businessman for many years and later became a Gulf County Commissioner. He enjoyed serving his community and leaves behind a legacy of character and faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Whitfield and Jimmy Whitfield; and sister, Elnita Whitfield.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Donna Whitfield; two daughters, Melinda Roman (Rey) and Lesia Whitfield; son, Freddie J. Whitfield Jr. (fiancée July Robbins); six grandchildren: Anisa Chaudhry, Aliya Chaudhry , Hanah Chaudhry, Samira Chaudhry, Ashley Cameron and Jonathan Pacheco; two great grandchildren: Layten Cameron and Abbiegayle Cameron; two brothers: Alton Whitfield and Pete Rhames; two sisters: Sue Whitfield and Pinky Bell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A visitation was held Friday, August 18, 2017 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. Funeral services were Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the church, and Pastor Derrick Gerber officiated. Interment took place at Roberts Cemetery.
