1940- Sen. Claude Pepper gives a proposal for a naval base in St. Joseph Bay to the Secretary of the Navy.
1948- A crowd of nearly 1,000 show up to the dedication of the F. Elgin Bayless Bridge in White City. The 236-foot vertical lift span was built at a cost of $300,000.
1963- A petition to relocate the county seat from Wewahitchka to Port St. Joe is presented to the Gulf County Commission.
1970- Harold and Glenda Jarboe of Troy, Indiana are arrested for robbery in Port St. Joe. The couple was caught in the act of robbing the Western Auto Store. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the couple was also wanted by the FBI for several robberies across Indiana.
1991- The local National Guard unit returns back to the Franklin County Armory after serving in Operation Desert Storm.
