Although taking place at a new location and at a new time, Mexico Beach’s Music in the Park is set to begin tonight.

Moving from Sunset Park to Parker Park this year, and beginning an hour earlier at 5 p.m CT, the weekly installment will host four artists for a free concert.

Tonight Baby Gray will take the stage to kick off the month.

According to Kimberly Shoaf, president of the Mexico Beach Community Development Council (CDC), the acoustic duo was well received last year.

On Sept. 14, local favorite Flabbergasted will fill Parker Park with music.

The third concert of the month, on Sept. 21, will feature Heat & the Zydeco Gents.

“I don’t think I am ever allowed to get rid of them; which is just fine,” Shoaf said.

To wrap up the month the CDC has brought in another local favorite The Currys.

The trio and national touring band for Port St. Joe will get to play for some of their biggest fans as the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico.

According to Shoaf, the start time was bumped up an hour this year in order to allow for listeners to have a little daylight left to make it home, or to one of Mexico Beach’s restaurants.

“We are very excited about our Music in the Park this year,” Shoaf said.

While guests are urged to bring chairs or blankets for seating, the Mexico Beach Volunteer Fire Department will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks as a fundraiser.

All shows begin at 5 p.m CT.
