1945- Cpl. Billy A. Bowen of Port St. Joe was awarded the Bronze Star. Bowen had been overseas for 30 months attached to a field artillery unit and made his way through campaigns in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany.

1950- Thomas McPhaul passes away at 68. McPhaul, affectionately known as "Captain Tom" had been a resident of Port St. Joe for 43 years and a long time employee of the Apalachicola Northern Railroad Company. McPhaul was the conductor of the first train that the railroad sent into Port St. Joe after an extension from Apalachicola was finished.

1967-James McGee becomes the first African American patrolman for the Port St. Joe Police Department.

1992- Several rare pygmy killer whales were found beached in St. Joseph Bay. The whales were transported to Gulf World for recovery.

2001- Gulf County Shipbuilding, Inc. completes its first project, a diving cruise ship destined for Ft. Lauderdale.
