The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School volleyball team saw its record slip to 2-7 after three tough home losses over the previous week.

The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School volleyball team saw its record slip to 2-7 after three tough home losses over the previous week.

On Monday, the Lady Tiger Sharks hosted Bay, falling in four sets, 19-25, 26-28, 27-25 and 20-25.

Claudia Alcorn led Port St. Joe with eight points off serves with a 100 percent rate and two aces. Teiyahna Hutchinson paced the Lady Tiger Sharks in kills with nine while Brooklynn Quinn had eight. Celeste Chiles had 18 assists.

The following night Freeport came to town for a grueling five-set match that ended with the Lady Bulldogs on top of a 15-12 final set score. The match was even over four sets, Port St. Joe winning the second and fourth, the scores 25-15, 22-25, 23-25 and 25-18, leading to the final set.

Allie Godwin and Hannah Fulk were each 100 percent from the service line, with Alcorn winning 11 points on her serve. Quinn led the Lady Tiger Sharks with 14 kills while Hutchinson and Allison Gerspacher had 11 each. Celeste Chiles had 30 assists.

The three-game home stand came to an end last Thursday with a large crowd and rocking student section cheering the Lady Tiger Sharks against Bozeman.

Again, the district match went five sets, with Port St. Joe falling by an even-closer margin, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 16-25 and 14-16. Emily Godwin was perfect from the service line on 11 attempts.

Hutchinson had a kill percentage of 22.2 percent with 45 attacks and 10 kills while Gerspacher had 35 attempts and 12 kills for a percentage of 34.3 percent. Quinn also had 11 kills on 37 attempts.

Celeste Chiles had 29 assists.

The Lady Tiger Sharks will be at home 6 p.m. ET Monday against Blountstown in the final district match of the season.
