The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School cross country teams, even without two key runners on the girls team, ended at the front during last Saturday’s ninth annual Dolphin Dash.

The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School cross country teams, even without two key runners on the girls team, ended at the front during last Saturday’s ninth annual Dolphin Dash.

The Dash is hosted by Lynn Haven Mosley.

There were 13 teams from around Northwest Florida competing.

The Lady Tiger Sharks won the girls’ meet, edging out Tallahassee Florida High, while the Port St. Joe boys finished third, behind Choctawhatchee and Blountstown.

The Port St. Joe girls were competing without Zoe Gerlach and Jade Cothran; both are expected back in action this week.

“We are very proud of the team as they continue to work hard everyday,” said girls Coach Sandy Quinn, Jr. “You can tell they want to get better day-by-day.

“(Assistant) Coach Keion McNair had a strategy that he implemented for the team in this meet and the team stuck to the plan and was able to win the meet.”

Shamario Cole (eighth in a time of 23:56) and Emily Lacour (ninth in time of 23:57) finished in the top 10 and Autum Kotelman was right behind, finishing 11th in a time of 24:33.

Lexi Fountain was 18th in a time of 25:43 and Savannah Burkett was 22nd in a time of 26:39.

Zach McFarland paced the Tiger Sharks, finishing 10th I a time of 19:02.

Kanon Martin was 12th in time of 19:28 and Drew Jones was also in the top 15, finishing 15th with a time of 19:44.

Ashton Powell was 27th in a time of 20:31, Cole Moore 34th in a time of 20:50, Ricky Forbes 38th in a time of 21:07 and Trey Barfield 48th in a time of 21:43.

Austin Jones was 74th in a time of 23:42 and Britt White finished in 32:09 for 114th.

Both teams competed at Wewahitchka on Wednesday.
