Port St. Joe Jr/Sr. High School NJROTC Cadets have spent the last several weeks training for the "Iron Bear Challenge," an annual JROTC athletics competition that was held at Central High School in Brooksville on Saturday, Oct 21. The Challenge consisted of 12 different activities, including an agility course, obstacle course, Izzy Dizzy Relay, tug-of-war, and a 100 yard relay.

The cadets spent the day testing their physical and mental capabilities against 17 other units in strength, fitness, and mental challenges. Despite coming back empty-handed, the members of the unit still feel that they were able to benefit from the experience. The Challenge showed them the areas of the unit that could use improvement, as well bringing a focus on individual and team strengths, and gave them a sense of accomplishment having completed the challenge. The Port St. Joe cadets were able to return with their heads held high, and many have high hopes of competing again in the future.
