Port St. Joe High School alum Javarri Beachum will hold a United States Naval Academy Information Forum 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. ET Saturday at Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School.

This is simply an information session that is primarily aimed at sophomores, juniors and seniors (never too late). Parents and school counselors are also more than welcome and encouraged to come learn more about the United States Naval Academy. Beachum can also speak a bit about the other (West Point- Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine) academies as well.

Although he will lack specific information on their admissions process, all academies are similar.

Beachum will give all information pertaining to admissions, life at a service academy, life in the service, and I have many cool experiences to share and spark interest. The academies are colleges just like any other, but they are also colleges set apart to groom leaders of our nation and our nation's military.

“Please spread the information out to the students in your schools because this is a opportunity for them to learn of other options that tend to be hidden in our forgotten areas of Florida,” Beachum said.

Beachum is a 2013 graduate of PSJHS. He was accepted for an appointment to the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in Newport, RI and graduated in May 2014 with an appointment to9 the Naval Academy, where he remains.

During the summers Beachum had opportunities to join to fleet to make the best decision for where he wanted to take my Naval Career and he chose aviation. He will graduate in May 2018 and become and Ensign in the United States Navy or Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps.

He will report to Pensacola to begin flight school in order to pursue his dreams of becoming a Naval Aviator. This is a two year process.
