What better way to learn about the refuge and see the beautiful interior of the island than on a guided tour* this Winter and Spring. Sit back and relax while you enjoy an open air ride narrated by a U.S. Fish and Wildlife (USFWS) volunteer. Look for animals and birds. Learn about the incredible history as well as its flora and fauna as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the refuge in 2018!

Jan. 3: 50th Anniversary Tour: participants will meet historical figures from the island's past. Meet the famous and infamous people who have lived and worked on St. Vincent

Feb. 14: Share the Love on our Valentine's tour and hear from our volunteers just why they love our Refuge.

Feb. 28: Guided Tour

March 3: World Wildlife Day Tour. Meet with FSU Environmental Studies students and take short walks into little seen areas of the Refuge as part of our tour

March 21: Guided Tour

April 11: National Bicycle Day tour ( limited to 15 participants) Bring your bike ( *extra cost of $10 per bike in addition to $10 shuttle cost payable to commercial shuttle operator) and join a volunteer led bicycle tour of some of the by-ways and trails on the Refuge. Will be in conjunction with wagon tour.

April 21: Earth Day Tour. Join Dr. Jeff Chanton of FSU to learn about dune and swale island formation and hear about his research into rising sea levels and the effects on the Refuge

May 5: International Migratory Bird Day and 'See a Monarch" tour. Join us to learn about the critical importance of the Refuge as a rest stop for migratory neotropical birds and learn about how Monarch butterflies use the island on their yearly migrations

All tours start from Indian Pass Boat ramp . Please be at the Pass by 8:30 a.m. ET to take a commercial shuttle to the island. ( cost of shuttle is $10 payable to shuttle operator) . The tours on the island last from approximately 9 a.m. until 1-2 p.m. Tours are on an open style wagon with stadium type seating . The tours are not suitable for very young children or people who are unable to walk short distances in soft sand.
