Dear Editor,

The season of giving is fast upon us and I wish to suggest a gift idea. Consider a gift to the Friends of the Library before the end of the year in honor or memory of a family member or friend. A gift to the Library reaches many. It can provide services for children who have no access to computer resources or the world of books. This can open the imagination to the wonders of life.

I am most appreciative of the Corrine Costin Gibson Memorial Public Library. As President of the Friends, I feel privileged to tell you of the many achievements of our Library. It’s good work has been recognized by our City Commissioners, the Gulf County Board of Commissioners, Senator Bill Montford and Rep. Halsey Beashears. The Friends have purchased books, magazines and newspapers, made Ancestry.com available to patrons and purchased needed furniture. Library programs which have participants of all ages are funded. Concerts, story-times, authors’ talks, craft projects have all been presented with the assistance of the Friends.

A gift to the Friends of the Library is tax deductible andf will be acknowledged with a personalized card. Your gift is a legacy that will reach many and last for years. You may send your contribution to The Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 1113, Port St. Joe, FL 32457. And while enjoying this special time of year, stop in to visit your library, take home a DVD to watch with family, attend a craft class or just enjoy learning the unique history of Port St. Jueo in the Alfred I. duPont History Room. You may even wish to start the family genealogy research you have been meaning to begin.

My warmest wishes for a very blessed Christmas season,

Cathy Colbert
