The Tiger Sharks are 5-0 overall, 3-0 in District 2-1A.

Port St. Joe 5, Franklin County 0

Senior captain Kjeil Dickinson got Port St. Joe started with a goal in the fourth minute and J.J. Laine converted a penalty kick in the 15th minute to put the Tiger Sharks up 2-0 at halftime.

The Tiger Sharks, Coach Eli Duarte said, played stronger in the second half creating a host of scoring opportunities.

Captain Isaac Rocha scored unassisted in the 45th minute and Laine followed with a goal four minutes later off an assist from senior Chris Anderson.

Senior Elijah Hester completed the scoring, assisted by senior Yani Pateristas, in the 55th minute.

Junior keeper Joel Bogaert made two saves.

Port St. Joe 3, Freeport 0

Bogaert, who had 6 saves, again had a clean sheet in goal and the Tiger Sharks again enjoyed an early lead after Rocha headed a corner kick by Laine into the back of the net in the 10th minute.

That was the score at halftime, but in the 55th minute another corner kick set piece resulted in a score, with junior Marlon Lopez assisting Pateristas with a pass to the top of the defense.

Rocha scored in the 66th minute, off assists by Lopez and Laine, to complete the scoring as Port St. Joe enjoyed a 12-6 advantage in shots.

JV

The first-ever JV team for the Port St. Joe soccer program debuted last week with a home contest against Rutherford.

The Tiger Sharks outshot Rutherford 10-7 but were on the short end of a 1-0 score.

Porter Hodges, an eighth-grader, and freshman Henry Balogh paced the Port St. Joe offense and Aiden Gainer and Caleb Heiden, both eighth-graders, split goalkeeping duties each with three saves a piece.

The JV hosts East Gadsden at 7 p.m. ET tonight.
