Climb the Cape San Blas Lighthouse. Venture down to George Core Park in Port St. Joe and climb to the top of the Cape San Blas Lighthouse, nearly 100 feet high. The lighthouse is open 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. ET Thursday through Saturday. For adults 13 and over, the cost to climb is $5 and for children under 12, but at least 44-inches tall, the cost for the climb is $3. Please, no flip-flops – climbers need sturdy shoes. In addition, the lighthouse is open, by appointment, for groups of 5 or more. The minimum charge is $25. Contact 229-8261 to book an appointment for a group.
The Mexico Beach Farmers Market. The Mexico Beach Farmers and Craft Market will be held Saturday in Parker Park. New winter hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CT. Shop for fresh, local vegetables and baked goods as well as gifts and goodies from local craftspeople. Parker Park is located at 2500 U.S. Highway 98. Learn health tips at Tuesdays at 2. On Tuesday, 2-3 p.m. ET, the MyGULFCare Team Leader and Care Manager, Debbie Maulding, will discuss “Chronic Health Issues: An Ounce of Prevention” at the Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Public Library Winter Speaker Series from 2pm -3pm. She will discuss how preventing health problems or reducing the effect of chronic conditions can help us live longer, stronger lives. During this presentation, attendees will learn about recommended health screenings and what they mean, as well as strategies and tools for preventing worsening health conditions. As a Registered Nurse for the last 37 years, Debbie Maulding has worked in Intensive Care, Dialysis and Chronic Disease management. She is a certified Life Coach, Care Manager and Dialysis nurse and enjoys both helping people learn to take better care of themselves and seeing the effects it has on creating a healthier community as a whole.
