James A. "Jimmy" Cox Jr., 69, of Smith Creek, died January 22, 2018 at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He fought a good fight of faith. He was born January 18, 1949 in Port St. Joe, Florida to James Sr. & Genie Harvell Cox. After graduating Port St. Joe High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served 4 tours and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. When Jimmy returned home, he worked and then retired as a Lineman with Gulf Power Company. He was an avid hunter, attended Mt. Elon Baptist Church and was a member at the Port St. Joe Methodist Church.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Lori Langston Cox, his mother Genie Cox, son-in-law David O'Neal Smith, children Loranda, Britney and Caleb Hutton, brother Blane Cox and wife Lisa and 2 grandchildren Gage and Hunter Hevener. Predeceased by his father James A. Cox Sr. and daughter Jamalyn Cox Smith.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 3, 2018, 11 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Park at Beacon Hill in Gulf County. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery Tallahassee at a later date.
