The Hillcrest High boys basketball team cruised to an 89-50 victory over Childton County in Tuesday's Class 6A sub-regional.

Christian Jones led the way for Hillcrest with 21 points. Tab Beverley hit for 19 points, all in the first half. Jalon Johnson scored 17 points and Sean Hobson scored 10.

Hillcrest (22-9) plays at Alabama State on Thursday against Opelika at 10:30 a.m. in the Class 6A Central Regional.

 

Paul W. Bryant 90,

Selma 42

Kailex Stephens led Bryant (26-4) in the dominant victory in the Class 6A sub-regional with 15 points. Jamel King and Tre’ Tubbs also reached double figures with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

Bryant will continue tournament play in the Class 6A Central Regional on Thursday at Alabama State in Montgomery against Helena.

 

South Lamar 70,

Cherokee 41

Malik Cox scored 22 points to lead South Lamar (19-6) to victory in the Class 1A sub-regional. Chase Gore was second in scoring with 17 points.

With the win, South Lamar advances to the Class 1A Regional and will play at Wallace State Community College on Friday against Meek.

 

Sipsey Valley 59,

Tallassee 51

Tyrin Lanier registered 16 points for Sipsey Valley (13-14) in the Class xx sub-regional win. Dakarii Smith also added 15 points while Drew Long registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win, Sipsey Valley advances to the Class 4A regional tournament for the first time in school history and will face Greensboro in the Central Regional in Montgomery on Tuesday.
