SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTS AVAILABLE
In compliance with "No Child Left Behind" parents and community members are advised that the School Public Accountability Reports (SPARS) for their child's school are available upon request at each Gulf District school and on the district's website (www.gulf.k12.fl.us).
These reports contain indicators designed to inform parents and the general public about the progress of Florida's public schools: student demographics, school readiness, graduation rates, College Placement Test results, FCAT results and the percent of students in each level, discipline data, and other types of data and information.
It should be noted that Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) reports for all schools, Title I and non-Title I, may be found at http:schoolgrades.fldoe.org. While the district's two Title I schools, PSJE and WES, made a school grade of "A" and "B" respectively, they did not make adequate progress for the 2007-08 school year in math. Since this is the third year that the schools did not make AYP in math, they are identified by the state as schools in need of improvement. In order to meet the proficiency level for 07-08, 62% of students in each sub group tested had to make Level 3 or better on FCAT math. Both schools had two sub-groups scoring below the proficiency level, PSJE - 55% and WES - 51%. The proficiency levels for 08-09 increase to 65% for reading and 68% for math. Both schools met 95% of all other required criteria.
Parents are encouraged to contact their child's school or the district office with any questions or concerns about these reports.
