Biking for a Cause

On April 25 Rev. Steve Vernon, a cancer survivor and pastor of the Bible Methodist Church in Greensboro, AL stopped by the Mt. Hermon Marchers Relay for Life Chicken Sale at the Friendship Fire Department. Rev. Vernon was returning a bike ride in Centreville for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. While at the chicken sale, he invited Frances Baxter, choir director at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, to sit on his motorcycle for a photograph. Jokingly, Mrs. Baxter stated that she had rather go for a ride. Rev. Vernon took the 79-year-old Mrs. Baxter for a spin around the parking lot. This was all in fun to raise money for Relay for Life.

Frances Baxter is the widow of Rev. Zedoc Baxter, former minister at First United Methodist Church in Port St. Joe from 1989 to 1997.
