Goodwill job fair a success

On Aug. 15, the Goodwill of Port St. Joe hosted a free professional job fair at the Gulf County Senior Citizens Association Building. The job fair allowed members of the community to speak with potential employers and hand in resumes for job inquiries. The job fair also allowed job seekers to learn about the Goodwill Career Training services, which help build necessary skills for employment.

Prior to the job fair, the Career Training Center offered a discount on professional attire to better prepare job seekers before meeting with employers.

About 11 employers and 60 job applicants attended the job fair, with opportunities from the likes of Burger King, the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, CVS, Avon, the Sacred Heart Hospital and more.

As with all Goodwill Career Training services and events, the job fair was free of charge with no appointment required. The Career Training services offered access to a computer lab, which allowed job seekers to print out their resumes, cover letters and more prior to the job fair.
