Children's Theater workshop/seminar a hit

Star Staff Report

The Port St. Joe Children’s Theater, sponsored by the Gulf Alliance for the Local Arts (GALA), held a two-day workshop/seminar last weekend at Capital City Bank. Bruce Taws from Arnold High School was the instructor and led the children through every step of creating a stage production, from set design to acting.

According to theater director Machell J.S.A. Bohannon, the children left excited and wondering when the next workshop would be. Other children were participating for the first time and wanted to join the theater troupe.

Taws said he had seen an event as organized in the 20 years he had been teaching.

Bohannon and staff are working out rehearsal dates and times this week for the Children’s Theater fall production and should have a complete schedule by the end of the month.  The fall production is set to be presented some time in December.  For more information on how you can help or even be a part of the St. Joe Children's Theater, please call Bohannon at 850-527-9413.
