It’s a sad fact, that in our society today, many have never heard a real Christmas Carol!  Through the ages, God has frequently conveyed His message to us through music.  The Psalms were all songs about God and His relationship to the Children of Israel.

Christmas Carols are a good example, of the kind of music that God uses.  These are some of the songs, which teach about the birth of Jesus:

“Angels We Have Heard On High”, “Away In A Manger”, “More Than a Story”, “Emmanuel”, “Glory To God”, “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”, “I’ll Give My Heart”, “Joseph’s Song”, “Joy To The World”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “O Holy Night”, “O Little Town Of Bethlehem”, “Silent Night”, etc.

As I was looking through my Christmas Carol books, a couple weeks ago, It came to me that many, in our society today, have never heard a real Christmas Carol,- one that talks about the first Christmas,- the birth of Jesus.  As I looked over one of those Christmas Carol books, I turned to the back cover, and was reminded that it came from a local BANK, who a few years ago, during the Christmas season, gave away Christmas Carol booklets at each teller's station. That should tell you something about America today.  How many BANKS would do that today?  Many have told me that they would love to have a BANK like that, as their BANK!

Do you remember the free Christmas concert that TJ, put on in Mexico Beach a few years ago?  As of this writing, I don’t think that he will be able to do it this year.  If it turns out that he is able, we’ll let you know through a press release in the Star.  However, all of his Christmas Carols are now available in MP3 format at: www.tjspraiseandworship.info/index.html.

In our family, we have become more and more irritated with the ads for holiday shopping, trying to get us to buy all sorts of glamorous junk.  There will be no holiday shopping for us this year.  We will still give needed items to family and friends, but we aren't going to waste our money on Santa Claus junk, Rudolph, snowman, angel, trees, wreaths, and other junk, that we would have to throw away after Christmas.  We might buy a nativity scene to help remind people about the birth of Jesus, the Messiah.  No, we won’t worship the figures, but the birth of Jesus is what Christmas is all about.

Would you like to make this Christmas happier and more meaningful?  Take time to do a little research, and remember what Christmas is all about.  Go caroling, with some family, and friends, or church members, or just enjoy singing along with some real Christmas Carols in your home, or car, or maybe play them over the PA system in your store or business.  If you would like a CD of the real Christmas Carols, let us know.  We’ll try to get one to you.

At the Mexico Beach Christian Worship Center, we love Christmas Carols, and make them a part of our praise and worship around Christmas time.  At the MBCWC, we don’t pass an offering plate and plead for money, or twist your arm to join.  Plan to check us out this Sunday!  Our services begin, with a time of greeting and fellowship, at 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.  TJ leads us in real worship, which begins at 9:45 a.m.  After the service, we have Holy Communion, and invite prayer requests.  We meet at the Mexico Beach Civic Center on 105 N. 31st Street, behind Parker Realty, and the Beach Walk gift shop, just off U.S. 98, in Mexico Beach.
